Press release:

Thanks to a grassroots political initiative in Poland, there is a legislative proposal to completely protect prenatal life at all stages.  In support of this proposal, women journalists from secular and Christian media have publicly expressed their strong opposition to abortion in the Open Letter from Women Journalists.  The letter, addressed foremost to members of parliament, shows that Polish women do not accept the killing of innocent and defenseless beings.  Nor do they accept abortion pressure groups, which lobby for their own interests rather than for the benefit of women and society.  The signatories hope for the restoration of moral order through this legislation.  Protecting all of the unborn will defuse the abortion bomb, which destroys mothers, fathers and entire families, and which devastates society.  The signatories also hope for a reaction from other groups, which will bravely step forward in the defense of women and children.

We, the undersigned, stand for the full and unconditional protection of unborn children under Polish law. Both the imperative of protecting human life, and the consistency of the legal system demand a repeal of the laws allowing the termination of pregnancy under the circumstances set out by the Act of January 7, 1993 on Family Planning, the Protection of the Human Fetus and Conditions of Permissibility of Termination of Pregnancy.

Human life is both the most basic and the highest value. Instead of deliberating about something so obvious as whether a child is a child from the moment of conception, why not accept this as a fact and protect this life without any dilemmas or justifications?

In the Open Letter from Women Journalists Against Abortion, almost a hundred Polish women journalists and commentators called on lawmakers, doctors and media representatives to bravely defend all the unborn. Their statement is particularly important because the abortion lobby has been trying to make people believe that killing a child constitutes a woman’s right, or even brings her happiness.

The first reading of a proposed law protecting unborn children is scheduled for June 30 in the Polish Parliament. During a very short period of time, citizens managed to gather nearly 600,000 signatures of support for the initiative. We also appeal to you for support for this proposal.

Journalists, gynecologists, and lawyers have already signed Open Letters to lawmakers supporting a proposed law completely protecting unborn children. All signatories of these Letters attended universities where they formed opinions about life and the world aided by men of science: their professors. In a sense, these signatories owe their social position to academia. Consequently, in a social issue as important as the legal protection of all unborn children — especially sick children — professors, assistant professors, lecturers, and research staff should not be silent.
